Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how SalesPlace (Pty) Ltd, operating WoadLeyef ("WoadLeyef", "we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information when you use the WoadLeyef service (the "Service"). WoadLeyef is operated from South Africa. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service. We aim to collect only the information we need to operate, secure, and improve WoadLeyef.
1. Who is responsible for your information
The responsible party under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act ("POPIA") — and, where applicable, the data controller under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") — is:
SalesPlace (Pty) Ltd
Registration number: 2026/388856/07
Address: Martin Road Springfield, Port Elizabeth, South Africa
Email: info@woadleyef.com
Information Officer (POPIA): John Doe — info@woadleyef.com
2. What information we collect
We collect information you provide to us, information generated when you use the Service, and information necessary to keep WoadLeyef secure.
| Category | What it includes | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|

| Password information | A securely salted password hash rather than your actual password | You, when you create or change a password |
| Profile information | Display name, first name, last name, biography, and profile picture where you choose to provide them | You, optionally |
| Google sign-in information | Google account identifier and information Google makes available to us, such as your name, email address, and profile picture | Google, when you choose Google sign-in |
| User content | Posts, comments, replies, votes, "relates" reactions, Settle participation, and other content you submit | You |

We don't receive or store your Google password when you use Google sign-in, and we don't request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, or other Google services unless a future feature specifically requires it and you separately authorise it.
Information you choose to publish
Some information you provide may become publicly visible because WoadLeyef is a community platform. This can include your username, profile information, posts, comments, replies, votes or reactions, Settle participation, and other information you choose to publish. Consider carefully whether information is appropriate to publish before posting it.
3. Anonymous content
WoadLeyef allows certain posts and comments to be marked as anonymous. When you use an anonymous option, your username isn't displayed alongside that particular content — but anonymous content isn't anonymous to WoadLeyef internally. We may retain information that associates anonymous content with the account that submitted it, and we may disclose that information where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of WoadLeyef, our users, or other people. We also can't guarantee that another user won't be able to identify you from the content itself — for example, someone may recognise the circumstances or details you voluntarily include in a post.
4. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- create and manage your account, and authenticate you;
- keep you signed in, verify your email address, and let you reset your password;
- provide Google sign-in where selected;
- display your profile and user-generated content;
- provide posts, comments, replies, votes, reactions, Settle, and other community features;
- moderate content and investigate reports;
- detect and prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and manipulation;
- protect the security and integrity of the Service, and troubleshoot technical problems;
- communicate with you about your account and the Service;
- comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities; and
- enforce our Terms of Service.
We don't currently use your personal information for behavioural advertising, and we don't sell it to advertisers.
5. Legal grounds for processing
Where POPIA applies, we process personal information in accordance with its conditions, including where processing is necessary to perform a contract with you, comply with a legal obligation, pursue a legitimate interest, or on another lawful basis. Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies to particular processing, we rely on the following legal bases:
Performance of a contract
Processing necessary to provide WoadLeyef and fulfil our Terms of Service, including account creation, authentication, and core community functionality.
Legitimate interests
Processing reasonably necessary for interests such as maintaining Service security, preventing fraud and abuse, moderating content, investigating reports, protecting users, maintaining and improving the Service, and enforcing our Terms — balanced against the rights and interests of affected individuals.
Legal obligations
Processing necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, or other lawful requirements.
Consent
Where applicable law requires consent for a particular processing activity, we'll request it. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time, though withdrawal doesn't affect processing that was already lawful before withdrawal.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
WoadLeyef uses a strictly necessary session/authentication cookie to keep you signed in and allow the Service to function. We don't currently use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or behavioural/cross-site tracking. Our servers also generate technical logs automatically when requests are made to the Service. If we introduce analytics, advertising, or other non-essential tracking technologies in the future, we'll update this policy and, where required, obtain appropriate consent.
7. Google sign-in
If you choose "Sign in with Google", Google provides WoadLeyef with information necessary to identify and authenticate your account, which may include a Google account identifier, your name, your email address, and your profile picture. We don't receive or store your Google password. Google's handling of your information is also governed by Google's own privacy policies and terms.
8. Who we share information with
We don't sell your personal information. We may share it with service providers where reasonably necessary to operate WoadLeyef, including:
- Authentication providers — for example, Google, if you choose Google sign-in.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — providers that host WoadLeyef, our databases, backups, servers, or other infrastructure used to operate the Service.
- Email providers — providers that deliver account-related emails such as email verification, password resets, and other necessary Service communications.
- Security and technical service providers — where reasonably necessary to protect, maintain, or troubleshoot the Service.
- Legal and regulatory authorities — where required or permitted by applicable law, including in response to valid legal process, court orders, or lawful requests.
- Business transfers — if SalesPlace (Pty) Ltd is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.
Service providers that process personal information on our behalf are expected to handle it in accordance with applicable law and our instructions.
9. International transfers
WoadLeyef is operated from South Africa. Some service providers or infrastructure used to operate the Service may process or store information outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we take reasonable steps to ensure the transfer is handled in accordance with applicable data-protection law, including POPIA. Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we use an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism where required — which may include an adequacy decision, appropriate contractual safeguards, or another mechanism permitted by law.
10. How long we keep information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Generally: account information is retained while your account remains active; user content is retained while it remains part of the Service, subject to our Terms and moderation policies; security and server logs are kept for a limited period appropriate to security, troubleshooting, and operational needs; and moderation or abuse records may be retained where reasonably necessary to enforce our Terms, protect users, or comply with legal obligations. When information is no longer required, we delete, anonymise, or securely dispose of it where reasonably practicable.
Account deletion
You can close your account through your account settings. Deleting your account doesn't necessarily mean every copy of every piece of information disappears immediately — we may retain limited information where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, enforcement of our Terms, a reasonable backup cycle, or other purposes permitted by applicable law. Content other users have already interacted with, quoted, or responded to may also remain on the Service in a modified or anonymised form where reasonably necessary to preserve the integrity of those interactions.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure — including HTTPS encryption in transit, securely salted password hashing, access controls, restricted access to production systems, security monitoring and logging, and reasonable backup and recovery measures. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident involving personal information, we'll take reasonable steps to investigate, contain, and respond to it, and provide notifications where required by applicable law.
12. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights including:
- Access — ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information (you can also fix certain information directly in your account settings).
- Deletion — request deletion of personal information, subject to legal requirements and legitimate reasons for retaining particular information.
- Objection — object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests, where applicable.
- Restriction — request that certain processing be restricted, where applicable.
- Data portability — request your personal information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, where applicable under GDPR or another law.
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on it; this doesn't affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
To exercise a privacy right, contact info@woadleyef.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding to certain requests, and we'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
13. POPIA and South African privacy rights
If POPIA applies to you, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including rights relating to access, correction, and objection to certain processing. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your personal information has been handled unlawfully: inforegulator.org.za.
14. GDPR and UK GDPR
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to our processing of your personal information, you may have additional rights under that legislation, including access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability, and withdrawal of consent where consent is the applicable legal basis. You may also lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority responsible for your jurisdiction. Nothing in this policy is intended to remove rights that can't lawfully be removed under applicable data-protection law.
15. Children's privacy
WoadLeyef requires users to be at least 16 years old to create an account, and isn't directed at children under 16. If we become aware that an account was created by someone below the applicable minimum age, we may take appropriate action, including deleting the account and associated personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at info@woadleyef.com.
16. Public information
Information you deliberately publish through public areas of the Service may be visible to other users and potentially accessible through the internet. Don't publish personal information about yourself or another person that you wouldn't want publicly accessible — in particular, avoid posting passwords, financial account details, identity document numbers, private contact information belonging to another person, confidential business information, or other sensitive information you don't have a legitimate reason to publish. We may remove personal information posted in violation of our Terms or where reasonably necessary to protect an individual.
17. Links to other websites
WoadLeyef may contain links to websites or services operated by third parties. We're not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties — review a third-party service's own privacy policy before providing it with personal information.
18. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through reasonable means such as email or an in-app notice. The updated version applies from the effective date stated in it.
19. Contact us
